Wen-Chia Tsai Parker is a Taiwanese American who immigrated to the US with her family in the early 80’s.  Both her parents and grandparents were growers and gardeners, so she has many strong roots in working with the earth.  Growing up, she had a vegetable garden on her family’s front lawn in Long Island, New York.  She always loved to grow fruits and vegetables and share them with friends and family.  Wen-Chia got her Bachelors in Art and Design from MIT and her Masters in Architecture from Boston Architectural.  She trained as an architect, a designer, problem solver and free thinker.  Throughout her life she has always found ways to share her love of gardening, composting and making things grow.  Now, living in Los Angeles, California, she adores her family of three children and supportive husband.  Wen-Chia is an active GREEN mom in her community as well as her local school.  Wen-Chia started the composting program at Beethoven Elementary School in 2009 and was inspired by the students and her children to write and illustrate Kids Can Compost to further share the joy and benefits of composting with others.  Wen-Chia as an UC Master Gardener volunteers at Venice Learning Garden and will be helping other local schools start their composting programs.  She encourages everyone to Compost and strive to preserve, re-use and recycle our resources so that it can be shared with all our generations of children to come.
